Nikita Rawal, a Ray of Hope for HIV Positive Children

Nikita Rawal

In a society where HIV infected people are looked down upon even by their own family, Nikita Rawal has proved to be a ray of hope for children suffering from HIV.

Nikita’s stint with social work started in the year 2012 when she started the Aastha Foundation for HIV positive children who were neglected by their families and society as well. The most enduring part of her initiative is that she herself funds all the expenses for the foundation without any external support, through her Kathak dance shows and film projects. The real thought or reason for starting the initiative has been the fact that HIV positive children are not getting proper life nor normal schooling. Till date, she has adopted around 60 children, mostly girls aged between 4 and 16.

She has got over 50 volunteers supporting her initiative. The passion for social welfare does not stop here, she has also taken up the mission to clean up Nayanagar locality which was earlier a dumping ground and is home to around 1,500 women. Additionally, Nikita also distributes sanitary napkins and medicines in this area.

Nikita Rawal started her stint in the glamour industry in 2010 by working in films such as Black & White with Anila Kapoor, Mr. Hot Mr. Kool, The Hero-Abhimanyu, Ammaa Ki Boli, Garam Masala with Akshay Kumar & John Abraham, Roti Kapda and Romance with Arshad Warsi & Chunky Pandey, etc.

Nikita has also won several prestigious awards such as Showbiz Icon Award and the Mid Day Icon Award. She also received public acclaim for starring in music videos for supporting social causes.
